The Mind MATTERS

July 17, 2019

We all know that spending time outdoors in nature is important for mental health. In fact, a Stanford University study found that simply walking through a natural environment for 90 minutes, compared to those in an urban environment, showed “reduced neural activity in an area of the brain linked to risk for mental illness”. We also know that developing communication, leadership and problem-solving skills are essential for a team to work effectively together. It is vital that we keep addressing mental health in the workplace, because mental health is something every single person has, and all companies need to start recognising it.

Awareness of mental health in the workplace has increased significantly and more companies are doing as much as they can to support people who suffer. A business should not only aim to reduce the amount of stress in the office, but they should bring awareness this can be done by organising a day out the office and bringing everyone together.

Some studies have shown that being taught in nature can aid retention and motivation afterwards. So here at the Bear Grylls Survival Academy, we combine all these elements to not only create a fast, fun and dynamic team-building day that will achieve your learning objectives but will also stay with your team long after the event has finished.

We have brought teams together that have experienced difficulties with communication due to working from separate offices; we have provided a platform for future company leaders to be assessed on their leadership skills; and we have provided unique, shared experiences where our most common feedback is that “it’s just nice to spend some time outdoors”.

Rejuvenate your team by spending a day with us in the wilderness …
