"If you can find a path with no obstacles, it probably doesn’t lead anywhere!"Bear Grylls
Following the success of Bear’s TV shows, Man vs Wild & Running Wild, adventurers can now test themselves in the extreme Highlands of Scotland. This five-day intense survival course follows the same format of the TV shows. “Survive the Highlands” begins with a crash three-day course in Bears survival techniques and finishes with a 30-hour survival mountain journey. You will be pushed to the limit crossing difficult terrain in order to make your way back to civilisation. Do you have what it takes to complete the challenge!
Starting at base camp in the heart of the Highlands, you’ll be taught Bear’s survival techniques by instructors who have either worked alongside Bear on TV projects worldwide and who are adventurers, mountaineers, climbers and experts in their respective fields. This is an extreme environment like no other and perhaps one of the last remaining wilderness areas left in the UK. You will learn all the skills you have seen Bear deliver over the years including his priorities of survival, skinning and gutting, fire lighting and emergency shelter building. However, it’s not all about survival, self-rescue is one of Bear’s key priorities and you will also be taught mountaineering skills and how to climb and descend mountainous terrain before crossing extreme ground using specialist mountaineering rope techniques, rappel, traverse and climb. Training complete, it’s time for the final challenge – You’ll be dropped off by 4x4 away from any form of civilisation and from then on, you are on foot as a team with no instructor support. You’ll need to head up in to the mountains where your survival adventure begins. Your aim - to cross the mountain range, summit the highest mountain in Alladale and make it back down safely. Remember, reaching the summit is only half the challenge. Along the journey you’ll need to set up a survival camp, forage for food, prepare and cook wild food, cross rivers, climb, scramble, raft, rappel, zip line across 200ft high gorge and if you get back down to the Glenn on time, you’ll be rescued by all terrain eight-wheel drive Argo’s. It’ll take all your energy, courage and determination to make it back to civilisation.
These are just some of the many skills you will gain during ‘Survive the Highlands'
Situated in the heart of the rugged highlands, the Alladale reserve is a privately owned estate, managed to restore the territory to its natural state through the reintroduction of tree cover and wildlife, and the encouragement of biodiversity. It’s a tough, diverse location with rolling mountains and glens, and super rugged terrain. The weather is as varied as the landscape, and experiencing four seasons in one day is common – the perfect way to prepare for a survival scenario.

I didn't really know what to expect from the course but even what I got was a shock to the system. This course is full on, with the most professional instructing team I have ever come across. Get your boots on tight because it's an absolute whirlwind!
