The Bear Grylls Survival Academy has arrived in the USA! The courses run in The Catskills Mountains of New York State, the Snow Mountain Ranch in Colorado and Lake Livingston in Houston, Texas. These courses are designed to inspire fathers and sons and mothers and daughters, to get out in to the back country and have a great adventure BGSA style!
Bear Grylls has become known around the world as the most recognized face of survival and outdoor adventure. Climber, mountaineer, Parachutist and extreme adventurer, Bears experiences range from summiting Everest, surviving the Legion and from the many skills learnt from his time with the British Reserve Special Forces. Over the past 10 years, Bear has massed even more experience during seven seasons of Man vs. Wild and his latest shows, Get Out Alive and Escape from Hell have all added to his knowledge and vast experience.

About the courses:
- The Bear Grylls Survival Academy 24 Hour Family Courses will run from midday – midday
- All meals, selected kit & accommodation included during the course
- Limited to 12 places (6 Pairs)
- Cost is $589 USD for two places child & adult, children must be aged between 9-17 years and both parties must be physically active
- Bear Grylls Survival Academy are reserving 1 placement per course for an adult with 2 children between 10-17yrs. Places are strictly limited, please ask a member of the team for current availability and pricing.
- On completion of the course participants will receive a Bear Grylls Survival Academy badge and certificate

Snow Mountain Ranch, YMCA of the Rockies – Colorado
The Bear Grylls Survival Academy 24 hour Family Course in Colorado is Located near Winter Park, Rocky Mountain National Park & Grand Lake, Snow Mountain Ranch offers a wholesome environment where friends, families & groups enjoy a tranquil setting, more activities than anywhere else & quality time together. A stone’s throw away from Denver, this is an amazing wild and rugged environment ideal for Bear’s unique style of survival training. The terrain will be one of the most challenging aspects of this location whilst the amazing wildlife will provide another. Coyotes, Bears and Wolves to name but a few. Lake Livingston, YMCA Camp Cullen – Texas
The Bear Grylls Survival Academy course in Texas is held at YMCA Camp Cullen. Nestled along the tall pines on 530 acres along the shores of Lake Livingston, YMCA Camp Cullen creates an opportunity to experience the natural beauty of Texas. In the enjoyable and relaxing atmosphere, everyone can enjoy what this location has to offer. If you are looking for a way to experience this captivating environment while challenging yourself, the 24-Hour BGSA course at YMCA Camp Cullen is for you!
Bear Grylls Survival Academy is tough both mentally and physically. In order to ensure that you will be able to cope with the demands of the course, participants should be fit and healthy and able to undertake physical activity, you must also be a competent swimmer.
These items listed will all help you to survive! Please note, all of the clothing and equipment that you bring MUST be appropriate to the environment and the time of year.
Please Arrive Wearing:
- Robust Mountain Boots or Shoes
- Good walking/trekking socks
- Base layer, mid layer and outer (ie. t-shirt or wicking top and bottoms, long sleeved top, jumper/fleece or jacket)
- Cotton Outdoor Trousers
In a Duffle bag/Ruck sack please bring with you:
- Extra Fleece/Warm Jumper
- Gloves and Hat
- Water and windproof trousers and jacket
- Swimming shorts/Costume
- Personal medication
- A pair of spare socks and underwear
Separate but in the same bag:
- Spare clean T-Shirt and Jumper/Fleece
- Spare Trousers
- 1 pair of spare socks and underwear
- Wash bag and Towel
- Camera (in a waterproof bag)
And a large bag of enthusiasm and smiles!!!
Provided for you:
- 30ltr rucksack
- Head torch
- Sleeping mat
- Four season sleeping bag
