So it is with great pride that we can now launch our 24 Hour Family Course as a great opportunity for parents to share these experiences with their children together.”
The 24 Hour Family Course will comprise of a combination of survival skills and adventure tasks designed to put fathers, sons, mothers and daughters to the test. On day two of the course the enrolees will epitomise Bear’s ethos of self-rescue by crossing difficult and challenging terrain back to captivity. The Academy has been designed for parents and 10-17 year old children by Bear Grylls and will be run by his close team of highly trained experts. It is the perfect opportunity to bring family members together to share a truly memorable and fun experience.
About the course:
- The Bear Grylls Survival Academy 24 Hour Family Course will run from midday – midday,
- Course comprises an intensive survival skills course as outlined above with overnight stay in shelter
- On completion of the course enrollees will receive a Bear Grylls Survival Academy badge and certificate
- All meals, selected kit & accommodation included during course
- Limited to 12 places (6 Pairs)
- Cost is £429 for two places child & adult, children must be aged between 10-17 years and both parties must be physically active
- Bear Grylls Survival Academy are reserving 1 placement per course for an adult with 2 children between 10-17yrs. Places are strictly limited, please ask a member of the team for current availability and pricing.

Bear Grylls Survival Academy is tough both mentally and physically. In order to ensure that you will be able to cope with the demands of the course, please do not apply unless all participants are fit and healthy and able to undertake physical activity, you must also be a competent swimmer.
If you sign up – this will all help you to survive! Please note, all of the clothing and equipment that you bring must be appropriate to the environment and the time of year.
- 2 pairs of robust mountain boot or similar with ankle support

The following kit will be issued to enrollees by the Academy for use for the duration of the course:
- 4 seasons sleeping bag
- Camp bed
- Head torch
- 30ltr ruck sack
- Roll (sleeping) matt

The BGSA 24 hour Family course in Surrey is located in Brook just outside Haslemere. It runs out of a 400 acre estate of mostly dense woodland but incorporates rivers, lakes and steep, difficult ground. Set between the North and South Downs, weather can be unpredictable making this location a real challenge.
The BGSA 24 hour Family course in South Wales is located within the Brecon Beacons. Close to Pen y Fan (The highest mountain in South Wales) this area of woodland, fast rivers, gorges and rock faces make it the ideal spot for an Academy. The terrain is super tough with water obstacles and high difficult ground being a key part of the challenge.
The BGSA 24 hour Family course in Shropshire is located in the heart of the Midlands. Undulating countryside surrounded by difficult ground with plenty of challenging water features to take on. A stone’s throw away is rugged open more land and dense woodland which really lends itself to a totally wild adventure.
The BGSA 24 hour Family course on Dartmoor is located in one of the most challenging locations in the UK. Open, rolling moor land, rugged high tors, fast flowing rivers and pepper potted with challenging and intimidating crags. With its own micro climate, Dartmoor can be beautiful but also, a very brutal environment.
